Heather DeLanoy, L.M.T. has been involved in wellness and fitness for most of her life. As a competitive gymnast and dancer for over 15 yrs., Heather has developed a strong connection with the mind, body, and spirit.
She attended the University of Massachusetts, and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in graphic design and photography.
Heather has passionately been involved with indigenous affairs for about 12 yrs. Her time spent living on a reservation across the country, and actively participating in ceremonies and sweats opened her spiritual path even further.
As a photographer and artist at this time, Heather had a natural eye for the details in life people take for granted. She began some self- exploration, and was guided to a holistic practitioner, who began to educate her in many other modalities of healing and wellness. Heather traveled across the country several summers in a row back in college, and started to notice her sensitivity to the energy in the different places she would visit. This led her to study more about metaphysics and astrology.
Finally, taking advice from her Holistic Health Practitioner, she decided to change her field of study. Such a change from graphic design to alternative wellness was supported now by her immense and growing knowledge of spirituality, meditation, fitness, and metaphysics.
Heather moved to California in 2002 to return to school for massage therapy, yoga, martial arts, and Reiki. She graduated from the California Healing Arts College as a Professional Massage Therapist, and has become an Ordained Reverend. She now has certifications in Hatha Yoga, Reiki levels 1&2, and Budokon.
The past 2 yrs. in California have been the most challenging for Heather in every way. About a year after moving to Los Angeles and struggling, Heather sought out Buddhism in an effort to change her karma. Its philosophies and way of living made sense and felt natural. The philosophy and life-style of Buddhism she set forth in her daily life created a forward momentum of major changes, good and bad, but perfect just the same.
Heather currently works as a massage therapist at Equinox Fitness Club in Santa Monica, CA. On occasion you can find her teaching meditation, yoga, or Budokon there as well. Heather has formed her own wellness practice in 2004 called Om Massage, where she has a thriving private client base. She rotates teaching Budokon at Jiva Yoga and Equinox Fitness Club in Santa Monica, and is looking to pick up more classes at other fitness centers through-out LA.
What can you expect in a session with Heather?
Most people are not taught to center themselves, so their energy is scattered everywhere. In a private session with Heather, she will work with you on being centered and grounded. This is important to maintain and promote health. Heather will help you separate yourself from all that reactive, uneducated fear of spirit. Heather will help remind you that you are in charge of your own energy and its creations. Grounding helps to remove attachments to your behaviors, which in turn frees up energy for new attitudes. Heather will guide you into freeing thoughts, patterns, behaviors, and discomfort that no longer suits you. Once you can gain control of your inner world, you can have much more ease and fluidity in the outside world. Heather's clients feel comfortable and supported in their exploration of Self because of her gentle, friendly, compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgemental attitude.
Whats Next for Heather?
Eventually she aspires to get certified in Polarity Therapy, Hypno-Therapy, relationship counseling, and Ayurvedic medicine.
